Aaron Brendan Jackson was born in New York City and is the son of writer Blyden Jackson, an African American activist and Jane Jackson, a philanthropist of Irish and French Canadian heritage. Aaron was raised in Vermont and pursued higher education at both the University of Vermont and Kean University. Jackson has twice been a recipient of grants from the Puffin foundation and he is the former Poet Laureate of Jersey City, NJ, as honored by former Mayor, L. Harvey Smith. His writing often reflects his dual heritage, with a focus on themes of love and urban existence as well as all things dog.
